About the Event
The Walk & Roll is designed to be an awareness event for The Virginia Home. This is the only residential facility of its kind in Virginia, currently caring for 130 residents from across the Commonwealth. We’ve done our research, and the Walk & Roll is equally unique in Virginia!
Residents of The Home have the desire to be challenged and to lead an active lifestyle, despite their disabilities. Many of them want to participate in events around the city, but are unable due to the profound nature of some of their disabilities. To provide this opportunity, the Walk & Roll was created. This event will allow our residents to feel a sense of inclusion and accomplishment while bringing awareness to The Virginia Home, its supporters, and our role in the community.
The Walk & Roll will be open to residents, staff and volunteers of The Home as well as other athletes from the community. Last year we were joined by members of the Special Olympics Urban Program, Amelia Street Elementary School and Richmond’s Sportable.
