Music Therapy

Music therapy at The Virginia Home is an exciting program aimed at developing and enhancing residents’ well-being through music, led by a Board Certified Music Therapist. Interventions are designed to promote physical wellness and self-expression, manage stress and pain, and improve socialization and self-directed leisure. Music Therapy at The Home is offered through 1:1 sessions, as well as small and large groups. Residents enjoy songwriting, recording, instrument playing, group sing-a-longs, music discussions, managing their own iPods and playlists, and more.

The Virginia Home Choir also meets weekly for rehearsals. Residents sing varying genres of music, including pop, rock n’ roll, folk, gospel, and more. The Virginia Home Choir performs for religious and holiday services, in addition to the annual talent show each year.
